It didn't take Lionel Messi long to leave his mark on Inter Miami. Already in his debut game, Leo gave his new team a victory.
With injury time left and the score 1-1, Miami were awarded a free-kick. Naturally, it was a job for Leo. He stepped up and sent the ball into the top corner:
He then went on to celebrate with his new teammates, one of those being Sergio Busquets. Then he also came over to his family.
Inter Miami's co-owner David Beckham was visibly emotional in the stands and the new set of supporters couldn't dream about a better start with Leo.
The game was part of the Leagues Cup, a North American competition between select teams from the US and Mexico. Miami beat Cruz Azul and will then play Atalanta United. The two best teams from each of the three-team groups progress to the Round of 32.
