Former World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro has taken over as Europe manager for the first time at Benevento in Serie B . Cannavaro, Italy's captain who won the 2006 World Cup, retired from football in 2011 and went on to coach in the region Asia. He previously led clubs in China and Saudi Arabia and spent six weeks as manager of the Chinese national team.
The 69-year-old has returned to Italian football for the first time since leaving Juventus in 2010. Cannavaro's last leadership role. He is the coach of Guangzhou FC, but he left the club in October 2021. Benevento, which were eliminated from Serie A in the 2020-21 season. He is currently 13th in the Serie B standings with seven points from six games.
